STEM- Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics
SiT's after-school program offers vocational training for
students from grade five through college in Rowan County, open to public,
private, charter, and home-schooled students. The program provides hands-on
experiences in various technology fields to enhance future career prospects.
Students engage in activities covering both hardware and
software aspects:
- Hardware
and Repair: Learning about computer components, building custom
computers, performing repairs, and managing servers and networks.
- Refurbishment
and Recycling: Refurbishing computers for community distribution and
responsibly recycling electronic waste to reduce environmental impact.
- Creative
Projects: Gaining experience in web design, graphic design, game
development, 3D printing, and CAD drawings.
- Programming
and Coding: Learning coding technologies like Scratch, HTML, PHP,
SQL, Python, and utilizing tools like Minecraft Education Edition. The
curriculum balances block-based coding with written code to accommodate
different age groups and skill levels.
Through real-world projects and exposure to professional
equipment students gain practical experience that significantly boosts their
career prospects in the tech industry.

$10 is the recommended daily donation. However, we run on a pay what you can system. We will never turn away a student because of costs. A students value is NOT based on their financial status, just their willingness to learn and grow. We encourage everyone with interest in our programs to sign-up.
